Chainsaw Art

These pieces are always a challenge. The machine removes the material so fast. You cannot let your mind wander when you do a chainsaw sculpture.

You have to be totally involved. It is a Zen approach. If your mind wanders, the piece will die (be ruined) or you will (possibly, literally).

I won't carve a living tree just for the sake of making a sculpture. The tree has to be cut down for some other reason.

Creating a chain saw sculpture allows me to recycle the wood that was the tree into a piece of art.
